GODPIT is a bullet hell roguelite for PC, built for two players in online co-op. You and a friend spawn into an arena and fight wave after wave, and the run ends when you both go down. The only score is how many waves you survived.

Clear the wave, spend your bolts, pick your upgrades, go again. Every wave is bigger than the last.

Play together online: one of you hosts, the other joins. With Steam running you join through Steam. Without it, the host gets a six-character join code to send to their partner, and Epic Online Services connects you, with no port forwarding. Go down and your partner can drag you back up. If you both go down, the run is over. Pair a Knight up front with a Ranger at the back, or bring two Gunners and fill the screen. Solo works too, the waves scale to the party.

Eight arenas to fight in: the Ossuary Foundry, the Coolant Cistern, the Orrery, the Heart Well, the Graft Garden, the Colosseum, the Reliquary and the Proving Ground. Some of them have hazards of their own. Pick one in the lobby, or let the game shuffle them every ten waves.

Each class has its own skill tree, around 45 nodes split into three branches with a keystone at the end of each. A Gunner can become a wall of bullets, a demolitions crew of one, or a barrel that overheats on purpose. A Ranger can snipe, mark the biggest thing in the room, or carpet the floor with mines.

Every tenth wave brings a boss. Which one you get is a coin toss, and it never sends the same one twice in a row.

  • Enemies drop XP. Every level hands you three stat boosts to choose from, plus a skill point.
  • Between waves the shop opens. Spend the bolts you earned on gear, or hold one item back for later.
  • The fight never pauses for a menu. Your build lives in a Tab menu you open while the bullets keep coming.
  • Elites wear bolted-on armour plates. On the harder settings they also roll traits: hasted, volatile, splitting, regenerating, vampiric, warded.
  • Four difficulties: Easy, Medium, Hard and Death. Reach wave 20 to unlock the next one. On Death every kill fires a ring of revenge bullets.
  • Every difficulty has its own leaderboard, solo and duo, ranked by the highest wave and then the fastest time to reach it.
  • When the run ends, the death screen lays out the whole build: gear, stat boosts and skill tree, side by side in co-op.

Controls: made for mouse and keyboard. WASD to move, mouse to aim, left click to fire, right click for your class ability, Space to dash, Tab for the build menu. Controllers work too.

  • Starting kits: reach wave milestones with a class to unlock new starting loadouts for it. Kits change how a run starts, not how strong you are, so the leaderboards stay fair.
  • More gear: head, legs and amulet slots join the weapon, chest, ring and boots, with a wider pool of unique effects to find in the shop.
  • Late-wave hazards: new arena hazards that stay asleep in the early waves and wake up the longer the run goes.
  • 4-player co-op: up to four players in the arena, with enemies, bosses and the HUD scaled to match.

The order can change after playtests.

More bosses are on the way. Next up is the Dismantler, a floating skull-engine with a mace for one hand and a chainsaw for the other. It chases you down, slams the floor hard enough to send a shockwave across the arena, and rises out of reach to drop bombs on you. Four more are coming after it. We are keeping them in the dark for now.

GODPIT is in development at I&B Services, a two-person studio. This is an early build for Windows and Linux, so expect rough edges and balance changes between updates.

Install: download the zip for your system, unzip it anywhere and run GODPIT.exe (Windows) or GODPIT.x86_64 (Linux). The first time, Windows may say it protected your PC from an unrecognised app: click More info, then Run anyway. The itch.io app installs it for you too.

Privacy

GODPIT has no ads and no account. Your saves and settings stay on your computer.

To help balance the game, GODPIT sends anonymous run statistics: a short ping when the game starts and as each wave begins, and a report when a run ends. A report holds your class, difficulty, party size, the arenas you played, the wave you reached and how long each wave took, your skill tree, stat boosts, gear and shop use, what killed you, the bosses you met, kill and damage totals, which difficulties you have unlocked, whether the DPS counter is on, and the game version, operating system, system language and connection type. If the game crashed during a run, the next launch sends that run with the last error lines from the game's log, with your user folder and user name taken out. Reports carry a random ID made on your computer (the same one your leaderboard entries use), never your Steam ID, and no name is stored with them. The server does not store your IP address with them. To stop it, turn off SHARE STATS in Options > Gameplay: nothing more is sent, and reports still waiting to be sent are deleted.

When a run ends, its wave, time, difficulty and class go to the GODPIT leaderboard with the same random ID and your name, and leaderboard entries are public. The name is your Steam name when Steam is running, otherwise the name you type when the game first starts (it can be changed on the title screen).

Online co-op without Steam goes through Epic Online Services (EOS), run by Epic Games. When you host or join with a join code, the game signs in to EOS with an anonymous ID made for your device. You don't need an Epic account, and the game never asks for your name or email. EOS uses your IP address to connect you to your partner, directly or through Epic's relay servers, and Epic's privacy policy covers that data. Solo play never connects to EOS.

Co-op over Steam goes through Steam instead, under Valve's privacy policy, and your partner sees your Steam name. To have your EOS ID deleted, or for any other privacy question, contact us through ibservices.info. The full privacy policy is at ibservices.info/godpit/privacy.
